Visit the Mint

Ottawa Location

As of Friday, August 20 the Royal Canadian Mint’s Ottawa boutique will be open for guests. Tours and gold bar are currently on hold and will resume at a later date. The Mint has worked diligently in order to reopen, for a comprehensive list of our safety measures, please see our COVID-19 response page.

The Royal Canadian Mint is committed to doing everything we can to keep our customers, employees and visitors healthy and safe. As of Friday, October 15, the Mint requires all eligible persons visiting onsite to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Unvaccinated children ages 12 and under have to be accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult. Proof of vaccine and a government-issued photo ID must be shown to a staff member before entry will be allowed into our facilities. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

The Royal Canadian Mint's headquarters occupy the historic building in central Ottawa where the Mint was founded in 1908. Today, the Ottawa facility produces collector and commemorative coins, gold bullion coins, medals and medallions. This is where the master tooling is done to create the dies that strike coin designs for both circulation and commemorative issues. The Mint's gold refining and advanced engineering operations are also located here in Ottawa.

Visit the Ottawa boutique at 320 Sussex Drive to add to your coin collection, find exciting gift ideas and take home some Mint memorabilia or take a guided tour to learn more about the exacting skill that goes into precision coin design.
