According to legend, Chinese civilization stems from the legendary folk hero Fu Xi—the 8th of the Chinese Dragon’s 9 sons. Fu Xi is one of the most auspicious among his kind. He taught the people how to hunt, fish, cook, cultivate silk, develop literature, and invent musical instruments. The Fu Xi Dragon is portrayed on this half-kilogram 99.99% pure silver coin. He is seen swirling within an ornate frame, next to a pearl of wisdom—which he dispenses to enlighten his people.

Did you know…
  • Chinese mythology attributes the creation of the first humans to Fu Xi—a legendary folk hero—depicted as having the body of a serpent and the head of a man or sometimes a lion. The Emperors were thought to be direct descendants of the dragons.
  • Every 12 years, the Chinese New Year falls on the Year of the Dragon. Some of the world’s most prominent figures were born on such years, including Martin Luther King (1929), Bruce Lee (1940) and Joan of Arc (1412)!
  • The Chinese Dragon is one of the most remarkable types among these legendary serpentine creatures. Depicted as a fierce fire-breathing beast with sharp talons and big teeth, it is, yet, a benevolent animal.
  • Dragons are closely linked to the forces of nature. While one should approach them with caution, dragons will reward righteousness with good fortune. They represent Emperors possessing supernatural wisdom, knowledge and power.
