NEW SCULPTURE COIN! The most iconic image of the RCMP, the Horse and Rider, has been painstakingly brought to life in 3D on this 10 oz. showpiece that is part coin, part collectible art. The year 2020 is a commemorative one for the Mounties: it's been 100 years since the Royal North West Mounted police was renamed the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and took on its federal policing responsibilities. Standing tall on the coin's reverse, the gold-plated Horse and Rider statuette is the stunning embodiment of this milestone and the many others that have made the RCMP what it is today.

This is our most complex sculpture coin yet. From the rider's Stetson hat to the horse's choreographed steps, our 3D salute to the RCMP captures the spirit of duty and service that defines Canada's national police service. Order today!

Special features:
  • 3D IMAGE OF AN ICON: It was 100 years ago that the Royal North West Mounted police was renamed the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Your coin is a salute to the RCMP's history and legacy, which are represented by the internationally famous image of Canada's national police service: the RCMP Horse and Rider, now in 3D form.
  • OUR MOST INTRICATE SCULPTURE YET: A true masterpiece! From the Stetson hat to the hoof prints in the sand, this RCMP Horse and Rider statuette features an incredible amount of finely sculpted details that capture the pageantry of the RCMP Musical Ride.
  • GOLD PLATED: Rising up from the coin's large-sized (65 mm) surface, the statuette is gold plated to ensure all eyes will be on the timeless image of the RCMP. The coin itself is crafted from 10 oz. of 99.99% pure silver.
  • ANOTHER ENGINEERING FEAT: Your coin is the product of many, many hours of careful modelling and extensive testing to ensure this design could be cast without sacrificing any of the fine details.
  • SPECIAL CAPSULE: A dome-like capsule helps protect this uniquely shaped tribute to our national police service, which is a source of pride and historical significance for Canadians.
  • LOW MINTAGE: With mintage limited to 1,000 coins worldwide (our lowest mintage for a sculpture coin), you'll be one of the few to own this limited-edition piece that blurs the line between coin and sculptural art.

Designed by Canadian artist Julius Csotonyi and sculpted by Royal Canadian Mint engraver Alex Tirabasso, your coin's reverse is a 3D take on the iconic RCMP Horse and Rider image. Gold plating highlights such carefully sculpted details as the rider's iconic uniform and the thoroughbred's musculature as they perform one of the choreographed routines that have made the RCMP Musical Ride world famous. The raised terrain has a sandy texture, complete with scattered hoof prints. The coin's flat surface serves as the base for this statuette and features the words "CANADA", "2020", "100 DOLLARS" and "ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE   GENDARMERIE ROYALE DU CANADA" engraved along the outer rim. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

"Designing a statuette coin in 3D is a completely different challenge than creating paintings for 2D coins. I have to think about how it looks from every single viewing angle, instead of just the single 'snapshot' that I choose to depict a 2D painting of a 3D subject—there's no part that is obscured behind other parts. I employ a 3D digital sculpting program to extrude the shape roughly at first and then add the fine details—it's like working with clay, but I'm using an interactive LCD display, a stylus and a computer instead." Julius Csotonyi: Artist
