This nation is defined by diversity. And fittingly, our national emblem isn’t just one type of maple, but all ten Acer species that are native to Canada. Our most affordable gold coin celebrates a diverse Canada through the symbol that naturally unites and represents us all! It features four different maple leaves together in a grouping that highlights their differences and their similarities. Each leaf is distinct, but each one has a part to play in the creation of a larger maple leaf shape that certainly stirs Canadian pride.

Designed by artist Vanessa Miller, your coin features an arrangement of leaves from four of Canada’s native maples: the bigleaf maple (Acer macrophyllum), red maple (Acer rubrum), sugar maple (Acer saccharum), and at the centre, the Manitoba maple (Acer negundo). Together, they form the outline of a larger maple leaf in a symbolic representation of a diverse Canada. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

I am very proud of the fact that Canada is so welcoming and inclusive. For me, this design really conveys my own personal sense of patriotism and pride. I knew that I wanted to depict several different types of maples to represent Canada’s diversity, so it was a matter of finding a creative and interesting way of grouping them to create a single form. The Artist: Vanessa Miller

Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded clamshell with a black beauty box.
