The 'Queen Elizabeth' rose is also known as the 'Queen of England' rose. It was introduced in 1954, just one year after Her Majesty's coronation (1953).

The award-winning cultivar is a cross between the 'Charlotte Armstrong' hybrid tea rose and the 'Floradora' floribunda rose. It continues to be one of the world's most popular roses and was inducted into the World Rose Hall of Fame in 1979.

The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Anna Buccarelli: Artist

My design is a throwback to William Morris, one of the most significant cultural figures of the Victorian era and the founder of the Arts and Crafts movement. The composition is full of movement, with patterns symbolizing transition and evolution. I purposely chose this timeless, and refined style to complement the regal flower, which is lifted by the delicate and ornate acanthus leaves.
