The Royal Canadian Mint (The Mint) is hiring an Electrician who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Reporting to the Manager, Ottawa Technical Services the incumbent installs, repairs, maintains and troubleshoots all production, building and exterior electrical and electronic equipment and machinery. The incumbent carries out regular electrical duties without supervision during shift work.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Install, modify, program, repair, troubleshoot, service, test, and maintain CNC equipment, motors, generators, systems and other electrical/electronical equipment in compliance with the electrical code and existing software standards.
  • Use software to operate, teach, program, update and manually control multi axis position robots in multiple language codes (e.g., STL, SCL, LADER, BLOCK, GRAPH, and VB Script).
  • Create and revise schematic drawings to reflect work completed.
  • Support and evaluate external contractor projects for code compliance and workmanship.
  • Continually improve equipment by providing expert technical knowledge to engineering team on large scale projects.

Qualifications:

Languages

  • Proficiency in one official language (English/French) required. Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.

 

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess a valid Provincial Electrician Licence as an Industrial or Commercial Electrician.

 

Experience

  • Production or manufacturing experience is an asset.

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Developing and applying preventive maintenance program to present or future equipment.
  • Safely performing duties in an industrial environment.
  • Working with Programmable Logic Control (e.g. Siemens S7, Allen Bradley control logix) and Building Automation System.
  • Planning short term activities as well as material required.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret manufacturers recommendations and drawings/specifications including blueprints.
  • Prepare time and material estimates; to use computerized maintenance management system.
  • Communicate clearly and with tact and prepare accurate reports and documents on activities.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • The ability to build strong, collaborative working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate good judgment, initiative and autonomy.
  • Proficient computer skills such as with MS Word and Excel.

This role requires the ability to work a rotational shift schedule onsite from the Ottawa location.
