Mint ranks sixth in Corporate Knights' Best 50 Corporate Citizens

The Mint has ranked sixth overall among Corporate Knights' Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada this year. The Mint also placed first among metal products manufacturers and second in the Metals and Mining category – earning the distinction of most improved organization for 2024.
“Over the last year, we've made considerable progress toward the implementation of the measures underpinning our environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitment and action plan," said Marie Lemay (President and CEO). “We are setting goals that help us meet important corporate objectives while making a positive difference in the communities where we operate, and we are both proud and encouraged that our efforts to be among the best corporate citizens in Canada – and in the global minting industry – are being recognized by Corporate Knights."

“Because of the collective efforts across the organization, the Mint earned the distinction of being the most improved organization honoured, moving from ranking 25ᵗʰ in 2023 to sixth for 2024," said Michelle Richardson (Chief Impact Officer), who represented the Mint at the organization's Best 50 event in Toronto. “Thank you to all employees for your work and commitment toward achieving our ESG goals."
There were many successful projects at the Mint over the last year that contributed to this latest honour, including:
Decarbonization Roadmap – a multi-year, strategic plan to meet our goal of having a carbon neutral Circulation Business by 2030
Distributed Ledger Technology – a new technology that tracks the gold entering our refinery, from mine to mint
Focus on coin inventories and recycling – ensuring coins are produced and distributed efficiently and sustainably
The Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada ranking is based on 24 quantitative key performance indicators related to resource, employee, and financial management, clean revenue, clean investment and supplier performance.
