About
$300 Gold Coin - Alberta Provincial Coat of Arms (2008)
Canada may be less than 150 years old, but much of its identityreaches back centuries - to a time when knights in the Middle Ages painted symbols on their shields to identify friend from foe. This is how the coat of arms was born an ancient art form that is yours to enjoy with this new collection showcasing Canada'sprovincial and territorial Arms in stunning 14-karat gold.
The Provincial Shield of Alberta was officially granted by King Edward VII on May 30, 1907. The larger Coat of Arms as depictedon this coin was granted by Royal Warrant on July 30, 1980. The provincial motto Fortis et Liber on theribbon means "Strong and Free."
